Obituary for Allan Peter Hills

With great sadness, the family of Retired Haverhill Police Officer Allan Peter (Butch) Hills, announce his unexpected passing. Allan, 79 of Boynton Beach, FL & Atkinson, NH, and formerly of Bradford, MA, passed away on January 27, 2019, with his wife and children by his side, after complications from heart surgery at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Allan was born and raised in Haverhill on August 21, 1939, son of the late Alfred B. Hills and Edith (Paltrinieri Hills) Mazza.

He was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from the Haverhill Trade School in 1957. Allan proudly served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961 as a radio operator on board the USS Allen M. Sumner where he was honorably discharged and received a good conduct medal.

He was employed as a Patrolman with the Haverhill Police Department from 1972 to 1991.
After retiring from the police department, he worked as a greenskeeper at both the Bradford and Atkinson Country Clubs.

He enjoyed skiing in the white mountains with his friends and family and soaking up the sun on the beaches of south Florida. He was a passionate Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching the Red Sox & Patriots. He attended over 20 NASCAR races with his son. He was an avid traveler having enjoyed over a dozen Caribbean cruises with his loving wife and a recent trip to Scotland. He was a sharped dressed man and proud of his tan lines, but more importantly, he was proud of his family.

Allan is survived by his “love at first sight” wife, Heather (MacPherson) Hills whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with this year, daughter Judith A. (Hills) Kerem and her husband David A. Kerem of Atkinson, NH; son Donald J. Hills and his wife Joreen W. Hills of Atkinson; sister Judith G. Wengel and her husband Richard C. Wengel of Plaistow, NH; grandchildren Ty and Tucker Kerem, Paisley and Quinn Hills, two loving nieces and a nephew. Allan also leaves behind his loyal companion, his beautiful bichon, Bonney.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Saturday February 16, 2019 from 1-4 PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main Street (Rte. 125) Bradford, MA. A private graveside service with naval honors will be conducted in Atkinson, in the spring.
