Obituary for Richard "Fred" Mendez

Richard J. Mendez, (affectionately known as Fred) 58, of Atkinson, NH and formerly of Georgetown, died Wednesday morning, July 5, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

He was born in Lynn, May 16, 1959, son of Charles and Carol (Sullivan) Mendez of Georgetown.

Educated in the Georgetown school system, Richard graduated from Whittier Vocational Technical high School, class of 1979, where he studied automotive.

He was employed for several years at various Meineke shops including the Plaistow, NH location.
He loved taking rides on his Harley Davidson, tinkering with his show car and watching NASCAR with his dogs Callie and Tooley.

Besides his parents his survivors include a son; Richard Mendez, a daughter; Veronica “Roni” Mendez, both of Georgetown, a sister; Stacey Steinmetz of Derry, NH, two brothers; Edward Mendez of Nicaragua, Charles Mendez of Tampa, FL, and three nieces; Bryn Steinmetz, Stacey and Amanda Mendez.

Richard was also the brother-in-law of the late Jay Steinmetz.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Monday, July 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Service at 7:15 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. To share a memory or for more information please visit
