Obituary for John S. Lynch

John S. Lynch, age 13, of Kingston, NH, passed away on Thursday, February 23. He had been skiing at Mt. Cranmore in North Conway at the time.
John was the deeply adored, beloved, and treasured son of Jim and Peg Lynch of Kingston. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his younger brother Matthew, his maternal grandparents Stephen and Carol McNally of N. Andover, MA, uncles and aunts Chris and Missy McNally of Hudson, NH, Mike and Laura McNally of N. Andover, MA, Steve and Kathy McNally of Hooksett, NH, and Marie Lynch of Westwood, MA. He also leaves behind his cousins Cam, Gillian, Megan, Kevin, Jake and Kylie McNally. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents John and Anne Lynch of Westwood, MA.
Although his life was tragically cut short, John made a lasting and profound impression on those he met. His smile could light up any room and his soul was filled with immense innocence and kindness. He was an eighth grade student at Sacred Hearts School in Bradford, MA, and was planning to attend St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH next fall.
Only John’s close family and his teachers knew that he had been diagnosed with autism as a young child. Despite this, John persevered and prevailed through hours, months and years of treatment to become an extraordinary young man who accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime. In simple ways John showed all of those around him what true courage and determination are. He exemplified grit, resiliency, bravery, and faith. He achieved what his doctors thought and said would be impossible. His family is indebted to the LADDERS/BDES program and to his many teachers, aides and therapists for their guidance, hard work and incredible support.
John enjoyed playing sports and loved baseball, soccer, hockey and tennis. He was an accomplished saxophone player and enjoyed participating in school plays. John was an avid reader and he liked to play video games. His favorite times were spent playing with his brother Matt and with his pet dogs and cat Shadow. John will be greatly missed by his heartbroken family.
Friends and relatives are invited to join in a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrating John’s life on Saturday, March 4, at 2 PM at Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford, MA. Calling hours will be held at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, from 5-8 PM on Friday, March 3. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in John’s name to Sacred Heart School, 31 So. Chestnut St., Bradford, MA 01835 or to BDES, 427 County ST., Floor 2, New Bedford, MA 02740.
