Obituary for Gerald H. Charron

Gerald Henry Charron, 82, of Groveland, passed away Saturday, January 6, at The Meadows, North Andover surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Haverhill, April 25, 1935, son of the late Henry and Marjorie (Sargent) Charron. Gerry was educated in the Haverhill school system, graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1952 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University.

For over 45 years he was employed as an Engineer at General Electric Aircraft Engines, Lynn, from where he retired in 1998. He was a proud graduate and member of the GE Apprentice program, from which he graduated in 1958.

Gerry had a strong faith, and was former member of the St. Rita’s, St. Patrick’s and Sacred Heart parishes over the years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Groveland. He also served briefly in the US Army, from which he was honorably discharged.

Gerry was the devoted and loving husband of the late Albertine E. (Levasseur) Charron, to whom he was married for 44 years. His survivors include a son, Christopher G. Charron and spouse Terry of Lexington, two daughters, Mary Anne Charron of West Hartford, CT, Regina Anne McGorray of Marblehead, a brother, Richard Charron of Merrimac, a sister, Kathleen Poole of Haverhill and eight grandchildren: Matthew and Nicole Swartz, Lily and Jack Charron, and Seamus, Declan, Emmett, and Brogan McGorray. He also leaves his companion, Anne Bevelaqua, with whom he shared several years of friendship, adventure, and love -- as well as many cousins, relatives, former colleagues, and close friends.

Gerry was a devoted husband, father and friend. He took great joy in spending time with family and friends at home in Haverhill and Groveland, winter months in Naples, Florida, as well as summer vacations in Martha’s Vineyard and Kennebunkport, Maine. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and loved to play golf. Above all else, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren – taking special pride in building a home, caring for his yard, planning vacations, coaching, hosting holiday gatherings, helping out his neighbors, and being supportive of his children and grandchildren at every opportunity.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, January 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the H.l. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill.
