Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Candage

Elizabeth “Betty” J. Candage, 81, of Groveland, died Friday evening, October 13, at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill.
She was born in Oklahoma City, OK, December 28, 1935, daughter of the late Vyron and Allie (Lasley) McFadden.
Educated in public school in Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. Candage graduated from Classen High School, class of 1954 and the Oklahoma College for Women, in Chickasha, OK in 1958. After college, she worked as a Club Director at Ft. Sill, OK where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Arthur C. Candage. They were married in 1962 and moved to MA where they settled down to have a family.
Betty earned her Teaching Certificate from Salem State College and was employed as a teacher at the Elmer S. Bagnall School, Groveland, for many years. Her great joy was teaching.
She was a voracious reader, loved traveling cross country with her husband, enjoyed yard sale-ing, and trips to casinos. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and telling stories.
In addition to her husband, she is also predeceased by her brother Gene A. McFadden and her sister-in-law, Rena (Bridges) Candage.
Her survivors include her devoted son; Gregory A. Candage and his wife Susan of Bradford, a loving daughter; Allison M. Candage of NY, NY, two wonderful grandchildren; Greer and Colby Candage, a sister-in-law; Jo McFadden of Glen Haven, CO, brother-in law; Bruce Candage and his wife Faye of Blue Hill, ME, brother-in-law; Darryl Candage and his wife Muriel of Blue Hill, ME; 5 nephews and one lovely niece.
She also leaves behind a group of strong and supportive friends she loved dearly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Sunday, October 22, from 2-4PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill.
