David R. Cook, 67, of Salem NH, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, Dec. 17.
He was born in Haverhill on Nov. 11, 1950, the son of the late Edward R. and Harriett (Meinerth) Cook.
David was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School. He furthered his education earning his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in 1972.
Mr. Cook was an expert on all things mechanical in arcade equipment, carousel organs, and anything circus related, He was happiest when they hummed. He worked for Canobie Lake Park Corp, the “Arcade” at the Salem Willows Amusement Park, Victorian Park of Salem, NH and the Half Moon Enterprises of Wiers Beach, NH. He also consulted with other parks and family fun centers across America.
He was able to travel with his mother for many years and enjoyed spending time with her; they lived life to the fullest. He was a donator to many veterans’ organizations and community outreach programs.
David is survived by cousins Linda Meinerth Vigliotti and her husband Angelo of Manchester, NH and Elise Danner of Bonita, CA, as well other family members and many friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, December 27 from 4 to 7PM at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. A Graveside service at Linwood Cemetery will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to a local food bank, the DAV or to a local Boys and Girls club.
